Once warm, they grip pretty good. However, in the wet, one needs to be very careful. Steering is great, and does a good job. Again, tires need to be warm to hot. Run flats, are a great safety aspect to seeing you make it home. Drove on it dead flat, for 30 kms, at average speed of 90Kph. Then, had it fixed.. But, tread does vanish fast..

Michelin Cup 2 are a fantastic tyre in the dry and OK in the wet if you drive to the conditions. The only issue is that the 5.5mm tread the tyres come with does last too long if the are driven as designed therefore they work out as quite an expensive option. That said, the grip and handling is worth every penny if they get you out of a sticky situation.

The tyres are consistent in performance on the car to the same tyres that were replaced.

I use these tyres principally for sprints and track days. They are good in the dry but quite dangerous in wet or damp conditions if the vehicle (Porsche Cayman S) is being driven flat out. The tyres are also used on the public roads where they are OK but as a replacement I will probably go for something more substantial - perhaps Pirelli Trofeo ?

These tyres are specifically for dry track competition purposes .However they do perform well on UK dry roads but require caution in the wet The wear rate is better than expected.

As a competition tyre they are quite impressive but as I have said they are not suitable for wet weather or for general use and I have a second set of tyres for that.

Purchased for their blend of track and road performance. On track seem to perform better than previous generation both on initial use and when warm.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 UTQG 180 AA A

Compare and Rate Your Tyre on its Treadwear, Traction, and Temperature

tyre-size

180 AA A

•  180 Treadwear:
This grade represents the tyre's expected life/duration, ranging between 100 to 1000. Usually, the higher the treadwear rating, the longer the tyre life.

•  AA Traction:
This grade represents the tyre's capability to stop on wet asphalt and pavement. Ratings are expressed in letter form, with AA being the highest and C as the lowest.

•  A Temperature:
This grade represents the tyre's heat resistance ability, with A as the highest and C as the lowest. Heat build-up causes the rubber to break down faster, which can cause blowouts. The higher the temperature rating, the longer the tyre life and the higher the speed rating.

The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 is an Asymmetrical Tyre

tyre-size

Asymmetrical tread patterns combine different tread types to deliver maximum wet and dry road grip via its inner and middle tread, while outside, larger and rigid tread blocks dominate the design to improve cornering.

To avoid fitting mistakes, asymmetrical tyres are labelled "outside" and "inside only" so you know if they will face your vehicle or out.

The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 is a Silent Tyre

tyre-size

•  Advanced tread designs:
Optimizes air flow in the tyre grooves for a quiet ride.

•  Specialized rubber tread compounds:
Absorbs road vibrations for less noise.

•  Made with sound absorbing materials:

Each OEM tyre is designed and repeatedly tested by car manufacturer engineers to ensure it meets the maximum performance, safety, and fuel efficiency parameters that will best benefit the vehicle

Michelin Run-Flat Tyre

There is no need for a spare tyre, and you can get to the nearest petrol station without changing your flat tyre at the side of the road.

Michelin's ZERO PRESSURE™ Run-flat technology allows you to drive up to 80 km after a puncture at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

Each Michelin ZERO PRESSURE™ tyre features a self-supporting reinforced sidewall so the tyre won't collapse and slip off the rim.
